RESCUE DOGS
As breeders and members of the American Bullmastiff Association, I have a firm belief that if you breed, you should help with rescue. Rescue is a fundamental part of protecting and cherishing the breed. We get our dogs from shelters, the Humane Society and from owner surrenders. Rescue is not a dumping ground for breeders unwanted dogs. A reputable breeder will not only take back any dog it has sold in the past, but will take back any dog who ends up in rescue which came from that breeder. Unfortunately, many breeders do not microchip their dogs, so dogs from shelters are often impossible to trace back to their origin. When "pet" quality dogs are sold on full registrations, even reputable breeders can find their offspring in the pedigrees of puppy mills, backyard breeders and pet store dogs. This is one of the primary reasons we advocate selling on AKC Limited Registrations, and why puppy mills have created their own new "registries" such as the Continental Kennel Club. Anyone with a computer can found a "Registry", which documents the parentage and ancestry of individual dogs. We have dogs available across the United States. Go to the ABA Website, www.bullmastiff.us and you can see many of the dogs currently in rescue. You can also fill out an ON-LINE application for adoption. If we do not currently have a dog that fits into your family, we will keep your application on file for future use when we do get a dog that fits. Our goal is to place the dogs into their "Forever Homes", and therefore, we are very picky and careful about matching up the dogs and the homes for as perfect a fit as possible. Rescue is always in need of foster homes, volunteers to do home visits and transports, and money. We do several fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for rescue. Dogs coming into rescue are always updated on their shots, spayed or neutered, and any other health issues they may have are addressed prior to any placement. Sometimes this entails heartworm medications, Valley Fever medications, cherry eye surgery, entropian surgery, removal of lumps and bumps, antibiotics and blood tests. If you wish to donate to ABA Rescue, you may do so by contacting our National Director, Virginia Rowland at Blackslate@aol.com.
AT THIS TIME, APRIL 30, I HAVE NO CURRENT RESCUE DOGS, THAT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE UNFORTUNATELY IN A DAYS TIME. PLEASE CHECK THE NATIONAL WEBSITE WWW.BULLMASTIFF.US FOR DOGS AVAILABLE IN SURROUNDING STATES. YOU CAN ALSO CHECK MYSTICALBULLMASTIFFS.COM AND SEE WHAT IS AVAILABLE IN CALIFORNIA. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL AND SEE IF I HAVE ANY DOGS JUST IN WHO HAVE NOT BEEN PLACED ON WEBSITES YET.
